For Immediate Release

Troy, MI (September 25, 2020)

CMF CURO was a proud sponsor of the 16th annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast on September 23, 2020. It was the 6th year that the pro-life Catholic health care organization supported the event, showcasing a timely message about the urgency to build a culture of life in health care.

Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast was hosted virtually for the first time. Speakers included keynote Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Los Angeles, Honorable William Barr who accepted the Christifideles Laici Award, and a surprise address by President Donald Trump

In his remarks, President Trump offered gratitude for all those who pray for him and First Lady Melania Trump. Reflecting on his experience growing up near a Catholic Church in Queens, New York, he emphasized, “These are amazing people, these are great great people”. Highlighting the importance of Catholic schools, President Trump remarked, “Catholic schools give many underserved children the chance to reach their God-given potential” and reiterated, “our nation is strong because of Catholics and all people of faith”.

The President also announced that he would be signing a “Born Alive” executive order, and that increased federal funding would be assigned to neonatal research. “Every child born and unborn is made in the image and likeness of God,” he said, echoing the Catholic teaching on human dignity and life.

CMF CURO would like to thank President Trump for his support of the Catholic Church’s teachings on life, human dignity, and religious freedom, as well as his support of the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast. There is still much work to be done to protect the lives of the unborn, the vulnerable, and the underserved and we prayerfully ask all people of good will to continue to pray for our country’s leaders and health care professionals.
