This Week in Washington was a crucial one for the Culture of Life and health care reforms.
- The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) released a letter to Congress identifying the moral criteria for health care reform. This is huge for defending conscience protection, the culture of life, and religious liberty in health care.
The letter also calls out the importance of protecting those who use health sharing ministries, like CMF CURO: “Those who choose to participate in alternative approaches like health sharing ministries should retain the ability to do so and be further supported.”
Our team also:
- Spoke to the House Values Action Team, a coalition of pro-life and pro-religious freedom groups, about the necessity of prohibiting taxpayer funding of abortion in Congress’ newly proposed health care plan, the American Health Care Act
- Communicated with two Members of Congress about prohibiting taxpayer funding of abortion in any final legislation on health care reform
- Worked with various pro-life organizations to educate Members of Congress and Senators about the necessity of prohibiting the taxpayer funding of abortion in health care reform
- Met with Congressional staff in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate about providing health sharing individuals and families with equal access to health savings accounts, tax credits, and tax exemptions in any new health care law
