We at CMF CURO have put together a Catholic Soundtrack with our Top 10 favorite songs to help you get into the Fall mood and reflect on this past year (all of which can be found on Spotify and iTunes).

Hey y’all! It’s Mariah (Assistant Manager of Membership Development and Policy Analyst for CMF CURO) here! Happy first day of Fall! It seems like only yesterday we were beginning 2021 (whew!), and now we’re rapidly speeding towards the new year in 2022. And what a year it has been!

However, it’s important to remember that amidst the continued COVID chaos, the Lord has done amazing work! The season of Fall is one of reflection and of change. During this approach to the end of the year, we see nature begin the process of rebuilding itself. We too can take this time to reflect and rebuild!

  1. Vanilla Pines by Tow’rs (and really anything else by Tow’rs)

This is a song with deep Christian undertones that highlight our rebellious wills and need for redemptive love.

In what ways have you felt God transforming you this year?

  1. Shoulders by for King and Country

This is one of my go-to songs when I’m feeling overwhelmed and isolated by the storms of life! It’s easy to feel isolated in the time we live in with so much animosity on social media and the uncertainties brought about by the pandemic. He’s carrying you on His shoulders through it all!

  1. Don’t Panic by Coldplay

The title of this song is self-explanatory. While the whole world around us seems to be in a state of dire panic, this song offers a friendly, contemplative reminder of the beauty in the world despite the storms within us!

How have you made time for self-care during this tumultuous year?

  1. Like Gold by Vance Joy

Vance Joy sings about what seems to be a reflection of how the nature of a once close relationship has changed. Fall is a season in which we can see death and decay in nature; it may even remind us of the death that has occurred in other areas of our lives. While the death of any relationship is painful, we know that we are all truly in communion if we are connected to our Lord.

  1. Beautiful Things by Gungor

While the changes of Fall can appear only to be a semblance of decay, this decay occurs to bring about new life after the harshness of winter. Sometimes we are broken so that God can bring about a Springtime in our hearts.

  1. You are a Tourist by Death Cab for Cutie

There are many times in life when I’ve thought I was doing the right thing, but it turned out to be the wrong thing. But this reminds me that I am not perfect and I desperately need the Lord to inform my decisions. The Lord never expects us to be perfect but only to try. “Sometimes the best intentions are in need of redemption!”

  1. Below My Feet by Mumford and Sons

As you reflect on this past year, this song of perseverance may remind you of our journey towards Heaven. There are times in which we are lost, but we look up with Earth always below our feet.

  1. Trust In You by Lauren Daigle

We have had to let go of a lot this past year, most notably our sense of normalcy. While it can be hard to see, we trust that God can bring good out of this suffering.

Lauren Diagle reminds us to let go of our own expectations of what the future should hold and offer it to the Lord.

  1. Hello My Old Heart by The Oh Hellos

The Oh Hellos remind us of our need to break down the walls in which we build around our hearts so that we can free ourselves to truly love.

What walls have you built up this past year in your heart? Ask Jesus to tear them down. He sees your pain.

  1. Blessings by Laura Story

In a year of so much death, suffering, and bad news we have been forced to focus on the basics of life. Laura Story speaks of how the Lord never abandons us in whatever we face. He knows what we need before we ask.

I hope you’ve enjoyed our song recommendations for Fall 2021! May they help you reflect on this past year and serve as great ambiance as you sip on your pumpkin spice lattes!
