READ:

Brothers and sisters: It is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats take away sins. For this reason, when he came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; in holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight in. Then I said, ‘As is written of me in the scroll, behold, I come to do your will, O God.’” First Christ says, “Sacrifices and offerings, holocausts and sin offerings, you neither desired nor delighted in.” These are offered according to the law. Then he says, “Behold, I come to do your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second. By this “will,” we have been consecrated through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

–Heb 10:4-10

REFLECT:

The hardest thing to do is to renounce our own desires, and with our freedom submit freely to the will of another. Be it in marriage, relationships, friendships or the workplace, this submission can be painful and costly. But it can also be incredibly freeing and fruitful, when done truly and out of love. Christ freely chose to embrace the Father’s will and carry the cross, stating “Behold, I come to do your will”. May we always strive, like Christ and Mary, to say “fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum”.

RESPOND:

Pray for the grace to accept the struggles and sufferings of this day, offering them up out of love for God and for others.
